I have a real soft spot for blackbirds. They build their nests and rear their young in my garden, and I help them by keeping the magpies away.
 
This sculpture is a bit special to me because I think it is the best one I have done, in capturing the feel and character of the bird on which it was based.
 
I am surrounded by blackbirds, especially males. Females are more cautious and I feel that this sculpture reflects that.
